I think I need a new wiring harness. Is there a video or some help out there?

Why do you think you need a new harness?

If you got some electrical probs its more likely just to be bad connectors.

You wouldn't believe how ugly my wiring spagetti mess is. I bought the car from a guy who redid the wiring and was pretty confused. I probably won't redo it again myself until later. I think I can just fix the few things that aren't working. There is some kind of potentiometer with heat exchanger under the dash and I think it's for 12 volt conversions. It doesn't look like it's hooked up right. I guess it's needed for the wiper motor and clock?

Jamie,

Get the BugMe Vide tape on wiring harness replacement. It's Volume #9. Even if you aren't replacing your harness it'll help tremendously. Also, go to this web site for a COLOR wiring diagram: http://www.vintagebus.com/.
Click on wiring diagrams and then pick the one for your particular car. Don't worry that is says Bus and you have a Ghia. They have wiring diagrams for most every VW out there. Good luck and remember that even after all the help from the videos and color wiring diagrams, you can always check here for clarification or help.

Yeah I've printed some wiring diagrams for ghias out from there before, they have pretty much all years there.

One thing I would say is print all the ghia ones out - the reason is this.

On the later diagrams (post '68 ) they 'simplified' them - the diagrams are bolder and have less detail - specifically the terminal numbers for things like the relays etc.

The wire colours changed little over the years and so you may be able to work out any terminal numbers by comparing an earlier diagram.
