Anyone know what the chrome thing about 6 inches back from the front bow is? It is chrome and held down by two screws. It is pointed upward and has threads for something to screw into.

I have a 70 ghia and in the process of tearing down the top to install a new one.

See the picture at Joe Clark's site to see what I'm talking about.

A hold-down for the frame when the top is down. There should be one on each side.

When the frame is folded back the little catches hold the frame together so it doesn't rattle around when you're driving.

It sounds like you are missing your hooks. Check out this link for more info, Question #32: http://www.house-of-ghia.com/ghiagab_v9-3.html#Q&A

Great, thank you.

House of Ghia explained it perfectly.
