Hi, Folks,

I'm doing a pan-up build for a 1967Ghia, and don't have anything good to look at and copy, but I'm trying to make this Ghia as close to original stock as possible. What happens to the fuel line after it comes out of the metal tubing in the pan? From old drawings I'm able to find, it looks like it goes to a press-on flexible hose, through a grommet in the firewall to a clear plastic filter, then straight to the fuel pump. However, some catalogs show another metal line that is sold for bugs, and they are often mechanically the same as Ghias. What's the right (original) way?

It should exit the left frame fork to a length of hose. Then there's a metal line that runs toward the rear and turns right with a short length of hose to the fuel pump. Then more hose to the carb with a filter inline there.

Any idea where to get that second metal line?

Some of the catalog vendors sell it. Try www.cip1.com or www.aircooled.net

I'm almost certain that it is the same as beetle, although the length of the flex hose may differ.

I remember buying mine (for a 66) at Wolfsburg West.

Watch where you route the fuel line. Many years ago my dad's 71 Ghia kept vapor locking after we performed a rebuild. The fuel line was just close enough to a hot part of the engine that it would vaporize incoming fuel and cause the engine to die. Merely moving the line a couple of inches made all the difference in the world.

also, make sure it doesn't cross pathes with the clutch cable... that'll eat right through the flexible fuel lines very quickly
