ok guys here's one for ya, i have a type iv motor but i don't know what size it is. It is not running and needs a rebuild.I also have two turbos off of a Yamaha motorcycle. I can fabricate with the best of them but my turbo knowledge is limited. I am a Harley mechanic and i'm pretty sure I could use two 45mm carbs(one for each turbo).I could also fabricate all the fan shroud and stuff to make the type i stuff work on the type iv motor (if i had something like that to go by). Now, is this feasible and if so, would it fit in a beetle? I also have a fastback i could put it in if not. Thanx ahead of time for any replies.

If those turbos are from the Yamaha 650 turbo it could be done but then pretty much anything can be done. The 45mm would have to be modified to accept the pressure from the turbo. If you didn't set it up as a drawthrough the plumbing would be pretty extensive. Seems like allot of work when you could probably find a used turbo from a car or on here and fabricate the plumbing. Twin turbos usually are setup to use fuel injection, partially to alleviate the tuning nightmare that results from separate independent systems. But...a setup using 2 smaller turbos would improve the response because of the smaller impellers, less lag, quicker to come on boost etc...

thanx for the reply ... the turbos are kinda small so i think they would work really good one on each side as a draw through. The plumbing is really no problem as i have all kinds of scrap metal and tubing.
