In 1989 or '90 I bought a '67 bug with a white vinyl top. It went around the back window and over the complete roof, minus about 1" from the gutters and the windshield. It had what looked like the factory aluminum trim around it, it was very well done. I had never seen another one until a few years ago when I found a 1974 out of Canada on the internet. It was made exactly like the one I had, except it was black. That is the only one I have seen and can not find any info on it. If anyone does know anything about it I would love to hear from you.

There are only two Bug-In perpetual tophies.

i once found a 1963 beetle in southern california. The owner thought it was a gold mine and wanted way too much for it...the engine was locked up etc. Regardless, it had woven seat belts...similar to early 60s type weave but the killer was that the buckle themselves were cast with very pronounced VW logos on them. The buckle was similar to an early style but it seemed to be die cast or sand casted in aluminum. they were very stout. I offered to buy the belts from him but he would not part with them. He was evicted later and the owner said that the bug had been crushed.

i wish i had taken pictures of these as i have never seen any others like it for the past 18 years.

anyone have an idea what these were? i think they must be either pretty rare or were some type of an aftermarket accessory. they would look awesome in my old manx.

thanks...cool thread!

Just scored these on the samba recently and they arrived in my mailbox today. These seem to be pretty rare I've had a blue set for awhile now and been looking for the silver and they popped up last week so I guess they were meant to be mine

just got this in the mail today so my search is over for this little gem. It's a rare camping steering wheel removal nut for your steering wheel. Take's an early petri hornbutton. Another cool rare accessory to throw on one of my early rides. Thanks Alex
