I built this rail at the end of High School, 74-75. Got it road registered as a composite and had fun with it until we started with the house and yard thing. It sat under a tarp behind the shed for 35 years until a few years ago when it turned out the kids were gone and there were no boat project in the plan. Literally had to drag it with a tractor into the garage. Started cutting things off of it until I had nothing but the bare frame.
My objective was to just get it back on the road and make it a better driver. The drum brakes were always a problem and the front end was very often too light to hold a track in a corner.
Here's a picture of some young kid in 1975
Here we are last week, taking my father out for a cold ride
Still have a way to go with paint, bumper, skid plates, etc. |

Thanks for the positive feedback. I've been lurking for a few years, finding what I need via searches. Thought I'd post some pictures to show my appreciation for the wealth of information available here.
When I when looking for brakes all the posts steered me away from the low cost kits. The Jamar brakes I ended up with stop real well and we a snap to install.
Once I saw the hook and rod setup for front end stops, I had to give it a try,
