My 1916cc has an empi extractor fitted. but its a bit loud, can I make her any quieter? I know "Dac Dac" is the nature of the beast. but I want it to sound like a porsche engine. O:)

I took out my 1835cc engine with dual quite packs and replace it with the stock 1600cc and stock muffler. Now I can carry a conversation in my ghia.

What kind of muffler do you have on your extracter? IF you Have dual QP's, maybe replacing it with a single would be better. If it isn't flanged, flanged could help, and if it is flanged, make sure the weld is good on the flange. A universal truth to all mufflers is that it might work, but you won't know untill you try.

all the pipes come together to a triangular flange with three bolts, is this the flange your talking about? then kicked off to the right is one muffler. I was talking to a muffler bloke here and he said if its made in chia or brazil theres not much in the muffler so it will be noisy, I heard also if you add like 3 feet of pipe to the set up somewhere it reduces noise. Are bigger bore motors always louder than stock? I didnt think it mattered, it just depended on the muffler??? If I put a stock muffler on it would it be quieter? but would this be choking the motor? its not really a hot engine, just 94 pistons, counter weighted crank, stock heads. quite mild. Heres another one, where the pipes snake around under the skirt, beaver pannel, what ever its called, top side in the engine compartment this panel gets very hot, you cant put your hand on it. since you have to keep the heat out of the engine bay, will this make my motor run any hotter?

I'm not sure what you are talking about with the pannel that is making your engine hot, but most of the engine is usually too hot to touch after the engine has been running for a while.
The extracter you described is a standard empi or bugpack or what ever 3 bolt flanged muffler. There are a number of exhaust types that will bolt on to that (double QP, single Quiet Packs, Stingers, GlassPacks) but I have been told that a good single QP would let out the least noise. That exhaust system isn't super high flow, and if you don't have big valve heads, it probably wouldn't be too much restriction to put a stock system on. In theory, a restrictive exhaust would increase your bottom end torque, but lower your top end power. I hope you find what you need. Good luck.

Well, I don't have a Ghia, I have a bus.. But I do have a BugPack Single QP muffler.. And I'm quite happy with it.. I think it sounds pretty good, and not too loud at all.. I never much liked the sound of the stock muffler.. I guess it was quieter though.

Im going to go for the QP single too. its sposed to make it as quiet as the stock. but if your happy with it I guess I will be too. but there would be a tad more sound proofing in a bus than a KG vert dont you think? your bus is 2litre isnt it? also if it is are you running a remote oil cooler as well as your stock cooler?
