| I am lucky that the original "Volkswagen's Washington" plate frame came with my '58 panel. This dealership was the first one in Washington state. Sadly it is much like my panel, in pretty rough shape! Jeff |

I don't understand your request. Anyways, I would really doubt you would find a tag frame from a TN dealership from any earlier than the 60's. Up until sometime in the late 50's, Tennessee's plate were the shape of the state itself. I saw a plain silver frame that was shaped as the state for the early plates go for about 200.00 on ebay. |

Josh - I need one from Jenkins & Wynne Motors Nashville, TN. That is where my bus was sold new in April '67. The reason I know where my bus was sold is because it came with the tri-fold owner's manual with the maintenance and service booklet in it.
I would also take a plate frame from Chuck Peterson Motors Provo, UT. That is where my bus was sold used in Aug. '67.
Check my sig for plate frames I will trade for one of the above mentioned plates or sell outright.

Ken, is that Sequoia Park one from California? I should check my dealer listings book. I have one from Fresno, but it's Gardner VW. I have some other local Bay Area ones. Here's the one from Apollo VW.

Dayum Taylor, I didn't know you were so hog wild on plate frames?
Not a hijack! I'm not really into hard core collecting them but I do have the original plates AND dealer frames from my "previous" bus. Truman Motors of El Cajon, California. They have the VW logo and the Wolfsburg logo also. The front one is, of course, beat to crap and the plate itself is rusted to the point of having hardly any paint at all. The rear one is in "decent" condition but the frame is obviously "aged".
That said, here's my Q. to all you with the frame fetish:
Is it better to keep the frame as it is, "aged", or to clean it up and maybe repaint it if the paint is gone?
Right now it is on the wall of my garage with the rest of my license plate collection. But if I was to put it on my bus, keep in mind the bus has a good paint job, not the OG worn "patina" paint. :? |

Quote: Also, willing to trade or sell one from L.D. Gateley VW in Orlando Fl
obus, I have an L.D. Gateley frame on my panel right now. Believe it or not I found it in a Oklahoma salvage yard. Heres the bad though, i found it bent up and buried. I straightened it, blasted it, spray paint chromed it, hand painted the blue background white lettering, and JB welded one of the fastener holes back onto it. Now i wouldnt do this to a nice OG frame but this one was shot. If you are interested PM me and I can send you some pics. |

For my 62 single I am looking for a Plate frame and or dealer stickers or badges from : Willard E. Robertson Corporation, New Orleans LA.
When I moved to my present location of Concord NC I found out there used to be an old VW dealership down the road that was now a used car lot but still owned by the same family. Shortly after I bought my 65 singlecab a man followed me home claiming that my truck was his Grand fathers. he looked over the truck and at some tell tail things like frame damage due to pulling a lawn tractor out of a ditch and confirmed that it was indeed his grand fathers truck. It turns out his grandfather had worked for the dealership here in Concord during the 60s and had bought my truck new from them. I went to the dealership to talk to the old man who owned it and to show him the truck . He took me back into a hallway with a storage closet and pulled ot the last 2 OG plate frames that they had left form back in the day and gave them to me! Damn nice of him.
They also had a NOS Manx SR.The whole car, No kidding. They built buggies like manxs and empis back in the day and built this Manx that sat in the showroom for the last 30 or so years. The side winder exhaust still had the manx sidwinder sticker on it. I belive they finaly sold it to a guy in California. |

I'd like to find a plate frame for:
Town's Edge Motors
Grand Forks, ND
where my '65 panel was originally sold.
I also would be interested in one from:
W.W. Wallwork
Fargo, ND
This is a large semi-truck sales and service place now. My '65 Panel was bought and resold by them in 1969. |
