| Getting serious about swapping my gas motor for a diesel, does anybody know if I need to re-do the exhaust and ful tank to go with it? Its for an 80 rabbit pu if that helps at all. |

| Going the same route in my scirocco. Stripped, lowered, lightened, high gearing, super economy machine. I want to go dual fuel with it eventually too. I hear putting diesel in the gasoline tank loosens up all sorts of crud. As far as exhaust, it bolts up the same, and I don't think the cat will hurt anything, but you can always gut it out and bolt it back in place. I traded a used trans for a diesel rabbit parts car that has all I need to swap over. Just too bad it's not a turbo! :o |

| Not sure about the gas tank, but I do know that if you put a diesel engine in a gas car, you must also swap the tranny! A gas tranny is geared different than a diesel tranny. If you get a diesel exhaust system fron the clip-on downpipe back, the hangers should all fit, even on the gas car. |

Use the old trans. In my caddy diesel I experimented with GTI A-1 and other trans, found a 9-A worked the best, the diesel pulls all the way to 85 mph with no problems.
Tank should be no problem, all you need is fuel flowing out, the A-1 Rabbit should give you plenty of parts to work with.
Chuck the computer and electronics, all you need is the simple setup for alternator and fuel swtich on the pump :P |

Do be aware that Diesel fuel will eventually react with the galvanized coating on gasoline tanks. Diesel tanks are not coated. The Zinc of the galvanization process will quickly clog a fule filter once it begins to come loose from the metal... [-X
Happy Motoring.
