These are old Porsche (356 I Think) lights.

I would not change what you have.

type III's are rare enough. Keep them pure.

Those are early bug (pre '66 in the U.S.) headlights, or possibly 356 Porsche.

Bug fenders are dirt cheap at any decent swap meet, buy a set with good buckets. They are most likely cut from bug fenders and grafted into the Squareback fenders. A qualified bodyman should be able to do it no problemo.

Hey now did you find that photo on my old website? I forgot it was out there..
That is my old roomies square..they are just bug headlights that were grafted in.
I am having that done to my Fasty now ..If you want I have a spare set of front with Type 1 buckets already in..they need some finish work ..shoot me a pm if you might want them.

Just my opinion, but I'd never do that to a T3. If that's your car in your
Avatar, you shouldn't do it either :!:

Comandanteche Thu Mar 11, 2004 4:26 pm

well, does the body have to modified to have these head lights installed? or is it just an easy swap? i think they look pretty rad, but honestly if i have to modify the body, that way i can easely change them if i want.

TheDDB Thu Mar 11, 2004 6:23 pm

It is only the fenders that need to be changed.
You cut out the stock bucket, weld in the type 1 bucket ..done!
Fender can always be changed later...no biggie

Comandanteche Thu Mar 11, 2004 10:13 pm

yea like you said fenders can be changed...and honestly i really do like the way it looks, to me it looks really cool and im considering having it dome my self...but if i ever wanna change back finding good original panels might be a pain no?

i wanna see if i can find better picture or something see how they look close up.

Here's another car, a Fasty. I think this is a great mod, and really improves the look and design of the early Type 3's.

I love that fasty, but that roof rack is got to go

Comandanteche Fri Mar 12, 2004 4:25 pm

thanks for that pic, the more i see those two pics the more those HL grow on me, ha

Comandanteche Tue Mar 16, 2004 7:54 pm

Martin, i didnt read your message correctly are you saing you have the fenders all ready with the buckets in? if so will they fit my 68? cuz i was thinking of replacing the front fenders anyways...

Agentsmith Wed Mar 17, 2004 9:57 am

Commandanteche-
Can you let me know if you decide not to persue Martins fenders? I am extremely interested in these as I have been planning this graft as well. Martin do you have pics you can post or send me?
Thanks
ClaeTA

Comandanteche Wed Mar 17, 2004 4:50 pm

yeah i will if i decide not to, i need to know how much he wants them for and if they'll fir on my square, we'll see :D

raru Wed Mar 17, 2004 8:26 pm

i'd probably do it too if i could get another set of fenders already done. it's been hard enough trying to find a 68 fender with the fuel door...

Comandanteche Wed Mar 17, 2004 9:05 pm

yeah, i really do like how it looks, i think it gives it a cool porsche look. if i can get those fenders from Martin, i hope they fit my 68

raru Fri Mar 19, 2004 12:38 pm

they'll probably fit, it just depends if the gas door will be there or not... mine r rusted under the headlights right now, so i've been looking around for some replacements anyway. but getting a 68/69 fender has been a bit difficult.

Comandanteche Fri Mar 19, 2004 5:38 pm

yeah well if it doesnt have a fule door ill have the one from my current fender welded in...my current fender in in ok condition but has one spot of rust. if not we could always hit this guy up

looks like he has quite a collection of fallen warriors waiting to be chopped up :D .

Anniehum Sun Mar 21, 2004 10:17 pm

Just MHO but that looks too much like a mini cooper. Of course this from the woman who's car looks like it has measles due to POR 15.

Comandanteche Sun Mar 21, 2004 11:01 pm

i dont disagree with you, the first time i saw it i thought it was a mini too but, it was way too big, but to me now it just makes it look like an old 356 porsche like the one my friends dad has, i think it c   l lol
