This is an incredible car!I swear, every time I work on it, I find more good stuff. I suppose I should stop bragging, people are going to start raiding it for parts.
I just put some pictures in the gallery.

BTW: are there any recommended waxing and buffing materials for VWs? I have a good car, I want to do this right. :D

I have some questions about parts values:
What does an IRS rear engine mount cost?
stock carb manifold blasting and sealing?
Gas tank reconditioning (professionally)? If I go with carbs I've got a '68 tank I'll put in.
Is anyone out there interested in buying a used engine block (solid, but bad seals), fenders, rear hatches, ect? I'm getting pressure to clean out my stores.
If I go back to FI, how much will someone give me for a complete (sans linkage) carb fuel system? This includes the oil-type air filter in great shape.

I know I can get most of the accessories I want from Martin, ISP West, or SpringMeet, but I'm always interested in new stuff...

If you are really trying to unload those parts, talk to Martin. I am sure that if you throw together a package deal cheap enough he would come get it?

A 67 can't use the 68 fuel tank, as the fuel filler is in the wrong location. Also, if you're trying to FI a 67 and earlier car, you'll have to rework the bottom of the fuel tank, as VW used a circular ring around both the return and the fuel fittings for FI cars (inside the tank). You will also have to install another full line (for fuel return) in the tunnel or under the car, as FI requires 2 lines, while a carb car only needs 1. You'll also need to build a FI harness for between the rear seat and the under dash section, as 67 didn't use that yet. Another Item that you'll have to add is the access door in the left rear inner quarter to hang the FI computer on (again, didn't exist yet).

As far as using IRS parts on a swing axle car, you'll need to fabricate some hangers or chop some out of an IRS car (the body side) and have them welded in. But remember, the engine case needs the mounting lugs for the hanger, or you'll need another engine case. Or, you could either convert the swing axle to IRS by welding in IRS hangers for the control arms or adding forks (under the trans) to the IRS subframe. Either way, it will still require some work. I hope this helps.

It's a '69, bob. See the pics in the gallery for proof. :D

OK, then the mount you need is for??? Ifyou have all the FI stuff, then I'd return it to FI. If not, then clean up what you have, and keep searching for the missing FI stuff you need.

The car is '69. The engine that is going in is '68 Swingaxle engine setup into a IRS car. That's where my mount problem is.
The engine in the fastback goes with the fastback in the current deal I have. I am, though, tempted to break that deal, keep the parts I need (including the engine), an sell the fasty and the parts square to Martin for $400. I doubt he has room, though. :)

Yeah, the swing axle motor won't work, you need the later case!! You use one of those mickey mouse mounts, but only as a temporary deal, not long term. For long term you really need the correct type3 case. There is no good way around it without the correct set up. I'm using a later t-1 case with mine, but it has the mounting lugs.

I've got the rear engine crossbar. Make me a fair offer and it's yours. Email me at wuzmop@aol.com.

The lights on my car, at long last, function reliably. However, the flashing lights don't flash. I've replaced the emergency switch, the flasher relay, and all the fuses since I bought it Saturday. I still can't get the flashers to flash.
I also can't get the turn signals to show when I turn the lights on? I have checked all the fuses; they're all good.
Has anyone been here?
