I just found 2 cars for sale and need to know if I can swap parts and make one good car??

1) 1968 Fastback with swing axle rear disk front good body parts and pan.

2) 1970 Squareback IRS automatic front fenders and pass door shot. The pan and pass heater chanel is toast also "RUST"

My question is will the 1968 pan fit the Squareback and I know the doors and front fenders are fine. But then can the 1970 IRS crossmember be put on the 68 pan and then a STD IRS transaxle????
Also are the 1968 fastback and 1970 squareback heater channels the same?

Thanks
Tom

Yes some of the parts can be used. I answered part of this post in your other post, but I can repeat some of it here since you gave the car you're swapping parts to. Yes, the doors will directly swap. No the front fenders won't as 70 is the first year for the new front end (about 4 inches longer). The rear fenders will swap though. The pan can be used as is or you can do a rear subframe swap. Yes you could then swap it over to IRS & MT by going that route. Note: you'll need the MT drive axles too, as they are a different length than the AT axles. I hope this helps.

Wow Bob you kow a ton about this I can see.
I was wondering if the rear frame section from the automatic will fit the older swing axle pan and then can I bolt in a STD trans in it? The older pan is in great shape but has a swing axle.

Thanks
Tom

Yup, it'll go. You might want to get a Bugpack urethane front trans mount, as it will have both patterns for the nose cone. This way you're not locked into having to find a particular year mount. I hope this helps.
