Hello, I have bought a bugpack super diff and I was wondering if theres a way I can tell if it's for a 11 tooth or 10 tooth spyder gear set, OR doesn't this matter can I use either in it? Thanks,

There are 3 types of super diffs for both IRS and Swing Axle. There is one specifically machined for 10 tooth spiders, one for 11 tooth spiders, and the third is a compromise between the two.
The 10 and 11 tooth diffs are stamped with a 6 or a 5. But I can't remember which number refers to the 10 tooth spiders, and which to the 11 tooth gears.
I don't know what the compromise diff is stamped with. The compromise diff is machined half way between the 10 tooth diff and the 11 tooth diff so that you can use either gears. A supplier that only offers one diff will carry this one.
IMO its important to get the right diff for your gears. I would never use the compromise diff. I have a friend who mistakenly installed 10 tooth gears in a 11 tooth diff. The gears blew up on his third pass down the quarter mile.
What is stamped on your diff? |

| So the NEW super diff by bug pack should have a 5 or 6 stamped on it, or the other number that means it's comprised for either? I'll look tonight and see whats on it, if you could find out which # of teeth the 5 or 6 stands for it'd be greatly appreciated! I'm looking forward to more info from you. Thank! |

Hello, Well i called bug pack and they told me its a comprised super diff that can hold the 10 or 11 tooth spider gears. Do you think this would be ok witha 1915 motor, and 74 trans w/ the 3.88 r/p. This car is mostly road usage rarely sees offroad stuff. Thanks,

| I would never use the compromise diff. Its a known fact that the 10 tooth spiders with the 15 tooth side gears are stronger. Get the proper diff and it will be stronger than the wrong diff. You can get the right diff from ERCO and Weddle. They carry all the types. |

| Kelby, I checked the diff I just got. Its has a 5 on it. And its for 11 tooth spiders. So the 10 tooth spider diff will be stamped with a 6. |
