I am splitting the case of this 2.0 L air cooled Vanagon. Tried to remove the oil pump but this stuff is very tough. Does any one recognise it and is there a way to make it come off easier?

| did you loosen the case nuts above and below the pump? doesn't look like it from the picture. |

| Thanks for the tip. Loosening up the case before removing the oil pump worked great. |
