View original topic: Battery Ground...Braided or Cable?

I'm replacing the (broken at the terminal) battery ground cable on my bus. I believe the braided strap is correct for my '63, but I noticed that it is available from a couple sources with either a silver-metal finish on the braided area or a copper finish on the braided area. Which is the correct strap for my bus? I know it's a little anal, but I might as well start getting something correct on my old driver.

Thanks again,

Doug

I do believe the silver finish is correct but if the other one being offered is real copper then I would get that one for the benefit of a stronger ground.

I have only seen the copper braided straps a couple of times. I think Wolfsburg West has them. Copper does conduct better than (are they zinc)? I haven't seen a copper one on any buses, but I haven't been looking to hard.

One of the buses I used to own had a copper cable. I believe it was the 61 westy I parted out long ago.

I have a couple NOS ones, and they are copper, but silver solder on the ends.

Thanks everyone. I am getting the copper braided strap tomorrow.
