i have a feeling this is a dumb question but i was wondering if the heater elbows are completely neccessary. im finishing up putting the engine together and i realized that i needed to replace the rubber hoses that attach the elbows. i really need to get this engine done so i was wondering if i might be able to block off the ends where the elbows would go and run it like that until i found the hoses and put them in. i would really love some quick, knowledgable replies :) . thanks in advance.

| Steven, 2 quick questions. Are you still using heat exchangers? And are you running a stock muffler? The reason for asking about the HE's, is that they'll burn up from not having any air flow thru them. Also if you're using the stock muffler, you can use that aluminum flexy hose that is commonly used with headers to replace the elbows. You'll need it in the uncommon 2.5 inch size though. I hope this helps. |

| If all you need are the rubber connectors, you can get something that will work from the local Home Depot. Look in the drainage aisle, they have a bunch of different short rubber connectors, some with clamps already on there |

| thanks everet, i just got back from home depot and im gonna go put the heater elbows on in just a second. i took your advice first bob, but my girl went to go pick up the hose and the guy at the shop tried to b.s. her and tell her "what she really needed to do". she basicaly went off on him and told him she knew what she was talking about (and hopefully made him feel like an idiot). then the jerk sells her the wrong size! oh well, we atleast figured something out. thanks again both of you. |

you need the Type II, also the good ones (black German) won't bent enough without cracking so you'll need to use the cheaper all 'silver' kind. |
