View original topic: Option (M) Codes

I just picked up a 63 Notch. It has NO chrome. PO says it came that way, says it's an "N" model.
Where can I look for T3 option codes?

Nice find..

But to the best of my understanding "N" cars didnt exist until 64..
All cars from 61-63 are listed as "1500's" they started with the the "S","N" models in 64.
What is the VIN on the car?
If the car was produced in late 63 [after 8/1/63] then is a 64 model, but could still be sold during the 63 calander.

*I think*
Ev-- I am i on track with this?

It should have rocker chrome but yes, there is no chrome down the center.

For 61-63 there was only 1 model. It's similar to a mixture of later S and N features.

Here's what a stock '63 Notch should look like:

Type 3s have no options codes printed on the car, you have to send for a factory letter to see what it came with. 63s didn't really have any secret options though, you can probably see anything special it came with on the car, unless it's been stripped.

Ditto on what Martin said too.

Post the VIN if you want, it might not be a '63.

Thanks guys. I'll post the numbers sometime this weekend. I haven't even unloaded the extra stuff that came w/ the car.
But it looks just like the one in the link, except, no rocker chrome either.
Hopefully, I can post the VIN and some pictures this weekend.
Thanks!

Vin 0117861, What year does that make it?

Looks like a '63 but with the rocker chrome filled in, along with a bunch of other stuff like the rear emblems and license light assembly. I'd check the rockers for bondo and/or rust.

0 117 861 = November, 1962 production = 1963 model year.

Looks pretty clean though. Is it Pearl White or ?

Yeah, it's had a ton of professional bodywork. There's some filler here and there, but passes the magnet test pretty well.

P.O. called the color "Mouse Grey". Says it was a VW color, but I've never heard of it. He didn't know the color code. If we ever have a nice sunny day, I'll take some better pics.

Thanks for the help. :)

Mouse Grey is a VW Bus color for 61-63 Micros and Deluxes. It's not that common a color and is pretty cool.

I would have guess 66-67 by the handles and the fact that it's a 4-lug, but then again it's got bullets. Is it a pushbutton dash? ie. - 63 tossed on a later pan? Swapping a pan is just about as easy as someone swapping the front fenders for early and then shaving the rest of the car. But then the title is suppose to be off the pan so... maybe the PO swapped the running gear to get discs up front or IRS out back or...
Argh to many options #-o muuuuust haaaaaave ViiiiiiiN Nuuuuummmmbbbbbbeeer.

Anyways, nice looking car.

Yep, PO swapped to 4 lug to get discs up front. Don't know why he did the back since no discs there.
Yep, has PB dash, which I have to get working again. Late light switch installed.
Speaking of PB dash: What do the two halves of the round thingy between lights & wipers do? I figure one half controls dash light level, but what about the other?
Thanks for the help.
