| Those two are for a bug. The bottom one some guys are using the serated teeth part of the bug adjuster with some mild modifications.Very similar to the Bus Boys kind. |

I have been thinking about using t-1 trailingarms (bj) to match a t-2 beam. I think theres a Samba barndoor in Florida that use that way to lower the front.
What do you think? :? |

the top adjuster WILL NOT work, the bottom one WILL WORK, The modification is simple, just take a grinder and take a little off the inside (where the bottom plate meets the beam) to compensate for the bigger beam that T2's have. |

I dont see how that will work? You lower the front of the bus by "turning" the torsion leaves up. Even IF T1 arms fit on a T2 (which i dont think they do since the tubes on a t1 are smaller then a t2) you will still be sitting stock height. |

the front beam on barndoor is smaller than a post barndoor. if you are going to do this then I assume you would have to machine a collar for each one, though I dont know how safe this would be.. Also you may want to use type 3 trailing arms as your can go with larger drums or even go with disk. let us know how this works out and above all, Saftey first. |

Please state why you are prejudiced against the Bay Windows, Aircooled? Not even one piece of lowering equipment on your site??? At least offer the drop spindles? Beams? Tokicos or Konis? please? |

That's easy to answer. Bay Windows suck. |

| Earlier in this thread, somebody mentioned notching the spring plates after cutting them to fit a straight axle. Can anybody chime in about this? |

| The springplates need to be cut on the ass end to bolt up to the beetle axle tube you are now running, and notched up front where they hit the bump-stop that is part of the torsion housing, on the off chance that it gets in the way of your lowering. And for the record, I encourage people that get into bay windows, but then I'm not a big fan of crowds. |

There are mulitiple companies offering lowering equip for vw's on this site...If you used the search button you would have figured that out by now. Most if not all DO NOT supply the items to lower a BAY's because....well like Andrew said "THEY SUCK" |

Anyone have any info on wheel sizing with an airbag setup?
How will 17X7 fit up front with 4in narrowed beam and dropped spindles on bags? Is it possible? Narrowed beam issues with bags? Offset issues? Could I lay the bus on the ground/wheel wells?
Experiences? Who carries the best system for the money? Airkewld, can you answer the 12mm stud front end question earlier in this thread?
Anyone do this work/sell this setup near Seattle? I would like to bag my 21 window that I just picked up and also have another friend looking to do this on his 23 window, package deal????
Thanks ahead of time for any responses. Sorry for any dumb questions.

Anyone tried this system available in the UK? Sounds pretty straightforward to fit and not wicked priced:

Wolfgang international makes an adapter for it. When you put it in, though, put some rubber between the adapter and the nose cone. It's very loud, otherwise...

Find a good tranny from a preffered year bug.You need (2)long and(2)short tubes.Use tutorial as a guide to cut tubes.
When installing bearings you will need bearing cap #311501311 this will allow the backing plate to tighten down.#311501311A will NOT work.
It's best to use the early T-3 brake drums, backing plates, and brakes. This will provide better clearance. You might need to modify E-brake cable and or backing plate to use the E-brake cable.Non crows foot wheels work better than crows foot wheels because of offset diff.I would suggest 14inch wheels due to height and clearance.
Depending on the year, you might need to use a bus nose cone and solid tranny mount.
Spring plates will need to be cut and notched.Remember to use the rear hole as the guide.
Clutch cable might need to be changed as this will change with what tranny you use.
also, I would like to thank my wife for typing this up for me, as this would
be as usefull as chicken scratch if it was I that tried to use proper punctuation, and capitalization. |
