| I was asked this the other day. If your bus was built in September 55,what month was your original engine built? I know wheels are typically stamped two months prior to month of bus/truck chassis number. Is this true with engines or could it be the same month? |

Every original engine I have seen matches up with the same month from the charts on this site, even the same week.
The only exception I have seen is Buses where they fall really close to the beginning of the month. The engine may be from the prior month by the charts but still really close to where you think it would fall given the VIN #.
Example:
My '55 Kombi
VIN # 20-112737
Engine # 20-959033
If you look at the charts and calculate out the math on how were made per day you can see these match up within a few days. |
