many many moons ago(3 years ago) when I started the project '64 sunroof notch it was determined that my original pan was juuuunk!
I bought a 65 notch out of northen virginia which turned out not to be in the shape it was described to me,having driven 9+ hrs for the car I was not gonna go home empty handed so I loaded it up and headed home.
after months of sitting we determined that the only future for the car would be that of a race car and a rough one at that so we got out the sawz-all and went to town and 2 hours later we had a big pile of metal left and a cheeeerrrry pan, seeing as the car cost a 1k I got my money out of the metal almost and used the pan for my car. anyways there are no numbers on the tunnel and they have not been ground off or bondo'd.it did have pan halfs installed at one time but that's as far as they got on the car before the owner died.
so what would the deal be then?I'm not worried cause I already have car titled and won't need to show them when I register the car cause I can say it's just been off the road having all the mechanics replaced and I don't ever plan to sell the car I just figured I'd ask a dumb question since it's been a while :D
and oh yeah,I got the interior today \:D/ and hope to be taking the seats to the trim shop this week along with the armrest to get them done up and will try to update my link to show all the progress of late.
sorry for the ramble. |

I have a similar problem. I have the digits on the pan of my car, but no badge on the body under the front hood. Doesn't even look like there was ever one there.

| My thoughts would be to finish it and drive it. My 65 Notch is sitting on a 70 pan, but back when I bought it, it was sitting on a very rusty 66 pan. It was pretty obvious that it had been swapped some time in it's life, but I couldn't tell you when. I didn't worry about it, since I don't plan on selling it, and since I know it isn't correct I just built a driver out of it instead of a show car. :D Just a few thoughts. |

drive it?!are you crazy man? :D I'm not worried about having #'s it was just puzzling,I don't see a problem with it as far as DMV goes, and seeing as I've got a new as41 case I'm not worried about having matching #'s in my car even though my og 1500 is on the shelf for future rebuild.

nik,are there two holes on the right side of the hood catch close over to the fender area, this is where your ID tag should have been riveted down. |

I'm gonna look to see if I see any old rivet holes when I get my Notch back from Oregon.

| Or they (PO) may have just painted over it instead of taping it off if it was repainted, and you may have overlooked it. |
