I have a question I was looking at a 1967 Squareback lastnight and found out that they are like the '67 Beetle in that everything is a ONE year only part.
I would like to know what parts are '67 ONLY and can not be used from other years. Sheet metal interior suspension anything. I like the car and it has had the brakes all redone, New clutch and runs very good. But needs some body work both on the pan and body.
I did a search on "floor pan" on Samba and see there are no new panels made so that means finding a donor car for cut to fit panels.

Thanks
Tom

All the twelve volt 67 switches are still early 6 volt style. Ignition switch also.

Rear view mirror, it's chrome arm, plastic base.

The ignition switch is 1-year only to account for the 1-key system but in reality, you could install an earlier switch and it would still work. You just couldn't have a 1-key car anymore.

Off the top of my head:
Window winders
Rear view mirror
Seat upholstery (Black lowbacks but '66 is a different one year only - black w/inserts)
Wiper/headlight knobs (?)

A lot of stuff is 66-67:
Seats
Door panels
Carpet
Arm rests
Shift knob
Hubcaps
etc.

These things apply for USA-delivered cars only.

Yes, that too, the door handles are '67 only. I think the inside door latch mechanisms might be different too

Now this I need to know because if I do get this car it need both front fenders and the pas door replaced.
I need to cut off and replace the front apron also it is messed up bad the Alum ID tag is all bent up also. The car comes with a new apron from ISPWest and a used hood.
The drivers fender I could weld the holes up but I would rather replace it if not to much$$

How hard is it to and $$ for ALL the rubber in a Squareback? I am talking Windows with popouts, all door rubber front hood/truck (what is that called?) all the window chanels and scraper rubber. Even the rubber around all the handle lights etc.... EVERYTHING

Is it the door handles only or the WHOLE door?

Speaking of doors how hard are they to adjust?
On this car the door in fine in the front but the rear gap and top gap are off. The back corner of the door need to go up about 1/4 3/8 The front edge is fine only the back.
The car was hit on the side in the front and the fender was shoved into the door and bent both the door and the fender pretty bad right there.

fenders shouldnt be a problem, u can use any year (through 69), but u may have to modify a bit for the differeing blinkers. 64-67 had wrap arounds. u could even use a fender from a 68/69 if you weld up the door, but don't do that cuz their scarce enuf for those of us with those years. rubber is pretty available. door rubber on the other hand is expensive, appros. $150 per door.

the front fenders & doors are one year only also, passenger side fenders have no gas door & skinny body molding with wrap-a-around turn signals & the doors have the interior lock pulls atop the window rail where in 1966 they were still on the inner handle, nothing that a good body man cant handle....

remember 2 bolt hinges... notchback doors will not work without more modifications... :P

the actuating pin length is shorter on the inside of the door handle on 67's the cosmetically the handle, striker & latch itself are the same...

Bummer well then what is the going rate for good used front fenders and a pass door?
You have seen this Squareback it is black and the owner said that you gave him a price to change the hood and front apron. He bought the parts from you.
