Just in case some of you care, I am now a participating member of the samba forum. I am a long time T3 list member and a practicing active notchback owner. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have concerning parts and or how to's. I will follow some of the threads already posted and give my 2 cents when I can.

I'd be interested also. Are you doing all notches or just stock 1500 notches.
Also, do you still have any NONA stuff left? |

Im still working on the 1500 club. It will be any pre 66 1500 T3 as a rule. Stock is the flavor as well. But I dont want it to be a "club" in the traditional sence eithor. No dues, no letter more of a compilation of nice stock early T3s. It will be more of a tight group of cars that pass the test on accuracy and or preservation. I want people to walk up to a nice early T3 and say "wow thats a nice square" then notice a sticker that says 1500 club and say "oooh and they're a 1500 member". Snobby yes, select yes, been done before..........no.

Dear Dr.Notchboy,
I have a notchback that has rusty heater channels and a bad pan. It's a '65 sunroof and is 99% complete. I bought it cheap and have plans to restore it someday. where should I start? Thanks

Well it sounds like you need to cut your losses. I would track down the person who got you the car and beat him. Then I would start parting out the car and get some money back. In your case youll only be able to sell the sunroof section as the rest of the car is crap. Then you need to go to the classifieds in the samba and buy a $27,000 notchback thats already done. There, piece of cake!

Sounds like a plan. The guy that helped me get the car moved out of town shortly after I got the car. I'm sure that I could get at least 10k for all the parts off the notch because they are super rare. I heard that there were only like 5,000 made. Thanks for the advice.

For anyone wondering about Jack and my posts, I found him the car. It does have rocker rot bad but is in an unmolested state. He even found a rare Blaupunkt rear speaker conection in it. He has the new rocker skins for the resto but not the welder or the time, YET. I keep buggin him to just do it or pay someone to do it. If you buy the welder we can make a day of it! So that way you can have 3 or four of us that dont know how to weld try to weld on your car. :?

I have to agree...I've always found that 3 or 4 people who don't know what they are doing is much more helpful than just one

I finally had the chance to visit Jason yesterday, first time since he moved to his new house. It's so cool to be able to see what can happen with a car with patience and motivation. His anthy '62 has been a labor of love. I can't wait to take him for a ride in my notch. Thanks for all teh encouragement Jason.
