Newbie that wants to go to the the VW Classic this June. I hear the Classic Weekend is the best VW Show in the USA. I guess it starts Thursday June 10th and rides throught the weekend or something like that. Trying to plan my trip down there from Northern California and wonder where people like myself travelling from far far away stay during the show? Is there a good central loaction that I can stay that will allow me to visit all the fun events during that time. Somewhat close by? How about a good camp site close by? What do you all do?

| Check with VW Classic website for a Host Hotel. They usually use the one across from John Wayne International AirPort though I cannot remember what it is as it has changed hands a couple of times. |

I've been going to the VW Classic since 1994 and showing my Ghia. Over the past years, I used to banzai run down after work on Friday and come back home on Monday afternoon. Last year, I took both the Friday and Monday off and went to the open houses on Friday, as well as couple more shops on Saturday after the OCTO show, then to the KYMCO Cal-Look.com BBQ Bash later that nite, then the VW Classic on Sunday, then casual drive home on Monday.
This year, I'm taking the whole SHA-BANG, taking Thursday, Friday, and Monday so I can check out the DKP Cruise nite to kick off the Classic weekend.
I'll be staying at the host hotel in Irvine (Crowne Plaza) as I've done the past 2 years, before that I stayed in a motel in Costa Mesa with friends of the Wolfsburg Registry of Phoenix, AZ. |
