| I have some pretty bad crack in my dash and I was thinking about putting one of the dash covers on my dash. My question is that the cracks are pushing up and the dash isn't flush. If I were to get one of these covers would I need to sand the cracks in the dash flush then put it on top? And how well do these covers work with Dye? anyone ever try? Thanks! |

I installed one of the plastic dash covers on my '74 Super about 15 years ago (I can't remember where I got it though). I cut down the edges of the cracks that were turned up with a razor and used the double stick tape that came with it to hold it down to the original dash. I pulled out the two round vent covers by the wing windows before installing and they help hold the ends in place, but it has bowed up a little in the center so it still has a soft feel to it. If I did it again, I would use silicon to attached it to the original dash instead of the double stick tape.
All in all, it has done pretty good and I'm happy with it. |

Luke, trim all the old cracks down with a razor knife first and then fill them with silicone.
Yes you can spray the black dash cover with vinyl/plastic paint, but keep in mind it is black for a reason ( not to reflect light in the windshield)
then use silicone ( usually provided with the dash topper) and follow the instructions to adhear the dash cover |

| the vents w/o breaking them. My dash cap came with no silicone - can you recommend a type? Are there clips for the vents so they slide out? |

| thanks for the help guys. Good point about the reflection Keith, perhaps I will dye it but cover it with a cloth cover, then take it off when I feel like showing off... yeah a lot of work bt I think it would be worth it. |

| If I remember correctly, the two round vents are basically cylinders with a couple barbs on the end. I removed them just by pulling them straight out. I think the barbs stick into the foam inside the original dash panel. |

Dash covers are fine if thats your decision, mine has on and Im not too impressed with it. Of course Im wanting to do my own dash. Is there a kit for an aftermarket dash, or has anyone here ever made one by hand? Whats the difficulty level in removing the old dash? Pics would be nice too
Thanks in advance. |

| Hey whitey I just talked to the guys at Glass action, and check this out. In about a month they will have a dash for the curved windshield supers that looks like a 911 Porsche Dash... now how cool is that. They say it will be around a hundred bucks, and should be coming out in about a week so keep that one in mind. |

| Sounds kick @ss. Do they have a website? And if not is there anyway you could snap a picture? I'd like to do a cluster of gauges with Autometer gauges and with the super dash, your just so limited with what you can do. Anyways, thanks for the info  |

| okay here's their website http://www.glass-action.com/ but like I said they won't have it up for about a month or so. But they seem real friendly and I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you called them up to get some more info. |

| I would like to find something to protect my mint original dash on my 78 super. Maybe something light the fabric or carpet style. I want something soft that will protect but not scuff up the dash. |

| Hey I've seen colth dash covers on JC Whitney I think, so if they have them that that means they are out there. Try cip1.com or any other site. I'm sure they will have them. |
