I have a 74 Super Beetle and a small rear suspension problem.
The rear end seems loose when changing lanes or wind is blowing.
I have changed the trailing arm bushings and the spring plate bushings
as well. Anyone have any ideas what the problem is? |

No, but I think that I finally figured it out. Could possibly be the rear
wheel bearings. When I change them out I will let know how it works. |

| It could be you have very wide tyres which will make your car "nervous" on an uneven road. I would also check the shock absorbers. |

I have solved the problem. Actually two problems. One was in the front
steering, the idler arm bracket where the bushing is pressed in was half
the height it should be(for whatever reason) allowing the center tie rod to
move up and down. The other problem was the rear suspension was raised
to high. Lowering it helped a bunch |
