Can anyone direct me to info "or a kit" on converting the ghia lights to the cool slopey type I's. I've seen this on a few Ghias and I know it would require metal cutting and shapping - And I can handle that. Or converting to late model Porsche headlights; the ones where the headlights and turn signals are integrated.
Thanks,
Wendell

| There are no kits for this type of conversion. You have the swap out the buckets and hack the fenders. Better have some skill as a welder and make precise measurements; otherwise, your lights will be crooked. |

| SneakyFeet, I am redoing my ghia at the present time, and put in the early type one lights as you are referring to. But rather than graft a early beatle bucket to my fender, I chose to push the lights in from the inside of the fender. Looks more like the Mercedes lights, but uses the stock beetle light assembly. Much more work, took lots of figuring before the first cut, but it gives the car a cleaner look. I have a picture of the front end posted in the gallery. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=69580 |

Custom Ghia,
Your work looks great. I like how you opted for the earlier fresh air grilles. I think smooth Ghia noses are really nice as well. If memory serves me correct, the prototype had signal lights where the grilles are now located. |

| It's a lot of work, I did it on some T-3 fenders. Not Fun but looks good in the end. 8) |

Here's another pic of a slant-beamed Ghia:

These are modded into a one-piece fiberglass hood though, which in my opinion would be about a bajillion times easier. |

After seeing pictures I have posted on the samba of the ghia I am doing, a couple of people private messaged me if I could send them pictures and procedures for this conversion. I have created an AOL Homepage that has this procedure doccumented for all interested to view.

People like you kick ass. Documentation is the key, and I really enjoy visiting with people like you and looking at your photo albums at car shows.
