That is a bug tool kit. The wheel bearing wrench is 27mm. In a T-3 kit it would have been 24mm.

Not a bug tool kit, its a type 3 kit as shown in Hazet catalogs.

Does anybody has a 24 clock inside the clock for a gas heater?
It is something like some of the westy bus has.

I think it is quite rare. (so rare I do not even know how to use... )

I will try to insert a pic.

Its is

Better shot of yours than of mine from back in the day when my digi cam was a wapping 1.5meg with floppy disk storage

Exactly like this.
But I know how it looks, but the question was how to program and how to connect... :)

Thats the million dollar question that has not been answered as of yet, and its been asked before. There is no trace of how its hooked up in the Eber manual that Ive seen. Ive been waiting for an old book update or something to surface from Canada.

Does anyone have access to Bay Bus stuff? Maybe the Bay type hooks up the same.

There is merely 3 connection points at the back of this 24 hour gas heater clock( beside the normal clock connectors), so this is not a very big issue, let me guess, one is a 15 point, one is a 30 point and the third is the switched 12...?

It is quite strange that there is no westy / 411 owners manual saying something about the programming. That is the big question mark.

This will eventually go in one car (after I clean up the gauges)

And this will go into another

Yes, I have center consoles for both cars.

Oh Im sure it could be figured out. I never took the time and found a cleaner switch for the heater I restored. But how do you set the thing, make it start the heater?

the 412 owners manual says :
to operate it, the small window must be red, the heater knob (at the dach)must be turned on, and the switch for operate the gas heater between the seats must be pulled upwards. now you can adjuste the time and waite if it actually works.

i have a problem shooting book of vw for the heater bn4,
at the clock you find 2 wires , one yellow, the other bleu/red

at the clock you connect the yellow to 30 at the clock and to 30 on the heater switch at the dash the bleu red from 15 to 15 to the switsh

hope it is the same as a type 3

Russ Wolfe Mon Sep 15, 2008 11:28 am

Here is the wiring diagrams for the T-4 heater with the clock.
I probably have them for the others too. I just have to dig them out.

Stuntmanus Mon Sep 15, 2008 1:30 pm

At the opposite side of the red/green dot, there is an other window, which sometimes white, sometimes black. Is this a night/day indicator?
I will connect a multimeter to the clock and will check those contacts...

But the programming, setting the time still not clear. :?:

Yes, that is the AM/PM indicator.

For the clock, but not the timer, since the timer is 24 hour?

jimmynotch Mon Sep 15, 2008 8:35 pm

So to use the clock/timer, you still have to have the eberspacher dash switch? That doesnt make sense though because the ones I have seen pull out (for 'ON') and mechanically return (for 'OFF') about 15 minutes later... so your heater doesnt stay on indefinately.. I have a heater timer/clock and Notchboy and I figured out one night how to connect it (or thought we did) and the switch didn't seem to be nessesary.

By the way Neil... I have the same desire to put a full compliment of gauges in my ride someday... looking good, bro!

notchboy Mon Sep 15, 2008 8:51 pm

That pic above jimmy is for the BA6 type Eberspacher. They have a thermostat that you can controll the amount of heat being pumped into the cabin. The BN4 also has this doo hicky switch. The BN2 like you have is eithor on or off. The above scematic is decieving in that the clock goes into what looks like a switch but is the thermo controll.

I belive that the Eberspacher clock timer for the t3 and its corrosponding heater was meant to warm the cabin for you prior to starting the car up. Once driving the gas heater would be secondary to your regular HE heating off the motor. Thats why the BN2s only have a crude function. That BA6 is light years ahead of it in proformance and sophistication in all the extra crap you had to install on a T3 to get it to work.

I think this NOS radio 'box' (don't really know what to call it) is pretty rare?
(maybe the NOS hood emblem and the mirror are somewhat rare too, but those aren't really accessories)

Here is another one installed in my friend's notch:
