Don't know how to put picture here, there are some in the gallery
One guy here in Finland is selling venetian blinds for fastback.
Would it be good looking in (pealr white) fastback? Never seen them in a FB. Any pics anywhere?
Worth buying?

Here is a pic of some Aussie Venetians in my Pearl white Pigalle Fastback. I think they suit :D

Hmmm... are they very rare - what could be reasonable price?

Not rare in Australia, they are still being sold new here.
On Ebay for about $185 AU ( = 92 Euro with current exchange rate), but postage would be a killer overseas, as due to the size ( they are welded steel, not a kit) it would need to be sent by private courier.

is this rear bumper an option?
spotted on a 70 model just arrived at a local scrapyard in Milano, Italy.

notchboy Sun Nov 30, 2008 9:42 am

Yes it was. Sort of, its an M code option from the factory. Its depressed like that so that a square plate like in Italy at the time can be seen. Very rear indeed and you should snatch the whole car up.

Fixed it for 'ya, although yes it is very "rear".

For a minute there I thought somebody just bashed in the rear bumper.

Sumguy Sun Nov 30, 2008 11:48 am

The birth cert. for my 62 Variant has that m- code

M code 286 Rear bumper prepared for number plate

Would like to see a picture of the early bumper one or if someone had one it would be nice to put back on the car :D

I have managed to get that late bumper home from the scrapyard, never seen an early type 3 bumper prepared for italian number plate but have always seen bent plates...
this 66 lives in Roma, unused for a time now.

Isn't someone in Canada selling one of those bumpers? I think everyone dismissed it as a non VW bumper, but now that your early car has that M code, maybe you should contact him.

That bumper has the indent under it and has a hole for a started crank? I would think if it truly is a vw T3 bumper its an M code for a Police or service type vehicle? It fizzled out cuz no one could find a purpose or code. And $500 for a guess is not my cup of tea

wolfman's brother Sun Nov 30, 2008 8:29 pm

thats a morris bumber in that ad

Sumguy Mon Dec 01, 2008 9:25 pm

Ya, i think Mark is right that bumper from Canada is from some other euro car old enough to have a crank start.

And Notchback good luck on the search for the bumper on our car's M code. That's going to be a very hard part to get....not saying impossible but gunna have to be lucky and first on the spot.

got myself a nos early exhaust, the one with the top heat exchangers fixed to it. picked it up for £60
also got an albert cat eye mirror, eberspracher, jail bars, and a few other bits.
its on my blog, www.crustysrides.blogspot.com

PIMPPRIDE Tue Dec 02, 2008 4:54 pm

yes, for late model that bumper is uber rare... I've only seen one locally 10 years ago on a beater in Costa Mesa area ( the car was in service at EUROPRO ) and one in photos on a Florida Notch/Scam on eBay

but for an 69 and earlier car... nothing, not even an illustration in the Type 3 bible... thou the late one is illustrated by vw also...

Mine does not show one either.
Although, I do have a piece that looks like #49. It may be for a bug.

I just got a '61 parts book and it lists "stoßfänger hinten (nur für Italien) M280", which translates to "rear bumper (Italy only) M280".

No illustration though.

ALLWAGONS Wed Dec 03, 2008 12:06 am

My '61 parts book indicates part # 311 707 311 B Bumper rear (Italy Only)
