Ok.. so I was with my girlfriend Friday night and I was bringing her home, it was midnight so it was dark, and I had the headlights on, of course. Well, I was switching it over to high beam and it would not go, however the horn beeped.. I was like, what the hell? It also worked on the horn ring. I could not get my highbeams on the whole night. It would just beep!! It was kinda annoying.. and I didnt want to stop trying.. anyone ever have this problem? Any advice to what it is/could be? I dont get it.. It worked like a hour before... and never had trouble before that... and then I used it tonight.. and the first time it worked to high beam.. then it did the stupid horn beeping thing again and when the horn beeps when turning the high beam switch on, the high beams dont come on! Thanks for any advice/info.. I am hoping there was a similar problem/expierance out there by some other individual.

The guts of the turn signal switch are ganked and the 2 separate areas where the brown ( ground) wires are inside ( one to the horn and the other to the dimmer switch) are grounding out causing the trouble.

I suggest checking the wiring and or getting a new turn signal switch if neccesary.

i had a problem along those lines.. its just that when i made a right hand turn it would go off.. turns out there is a wire that runs through the middle of this, and after years of turning, the sleeving arround the wire wore away and needed to be replaced... just unbolt the sterring wheel and pull out the turn signal mechanism. the problem will show itself.

Thanks guys.. is it a electrical fire hazard? I will do this asap.

I doubt is is a fire hazard, just more of an annoyance. Pull the steering wheel and remove the 4 screws holding the signal switch in place and get a look see for worn rubbing wires. and check the back of the horn ring on the steering wheel.

It could be that just the four screws that keifernet mentioned are just loose letting the blinker/dimmer unit move around in the column. First thing to do is pull the steering wheel and operate the dimmer switch to see if it is solid.
