| I have a 74 super beetle I bought new tires last summer I knew at the time I needed an alignment but never got one. Roughly 2500 miles later the font tires are both slicks on the inside. I do plan on getting the alignment now, but I'm confused on why they wore out in that fashion. By looking at the tires they both look like the tops of the tire are toed out making a "V" resulting in the outside of the tire to wear out. Can some one tell why this wasn't the case and is very difficult to adjust the alignment without a alignment machine? |

it would be near impossible not just difficult to align the front end without an alignment machine.
Make sure to inpect the front end, all the components and relpace everything that is worn or borderline worn out. If you don't then you will pay for an alignment every time you have to change any of the components. All the parts on a Super front end work together so if any one part is old of failing it puts the stress and wear on the next part, thus perpetually wearing out parts.
If you get everything up to snuff all at once and then get an alignment you will be much better off.
When you are sure things are in order then get the best alignment you can from a front end/ tire shop with good equipment and hopefully knowledge of VW's. |
