I live up the street from someone with a blue super. Thats about all i know about the car itself besides it looks to be in good condition. The thing thats bad is, i have never seen it gone or moved out of that spot. It stays there every day for years now. I remember being like 6 years old and seeing it and hitting my sister "Blue punch buggy!" Should I ask the people that live at the house if its for sale? It makes me sad. its never worked on or kept up or DRIVEN!!! Ill post a picture of it tomorrow

By all means, rescue it. Anyone who saves any abused or neglected VW will gain good karma. Super or split, no VW deserves to be neglected like that [ok, maybe a 411 or 412 ]

Ask about it. My parents bought a '73 SB new in '73. Years ago we started to get many inquirees about it. unfortunatly my mom sold it for cheap b/c it was sitting for months at a time. Then i turned 16 and bought one myself. The point is you can sometimes get a good deal.

No, but it might be in 5 or 10 or 15 years..... they're all going to that big crusher in the sky, slow but sure. Just in the last 5 years the wrecking yards have gone from loads of bugs to just a few. Even here in California the pickings are getting slimmer by the day.
Save it if you can, get it back on the road and sell it to another VW lover.:D |

one more thing, i believe it hasnt been started (I THINK) in more than 5 years. I bet that it needs a engine rebuild, maybe a broken piston and they never felt like fixing it. Or maybe it was inherited and they just keep it for sentimental values, but a car isnt somthing u just keep for that reason and if it was they would put it in their garage. Im surprised no one has hit it in the past 10 years. If they are selling it for more than 1k i wont have a chance but ill let u guys know

By all means, go get it! There is nothing more satisfying than bringing home another stray Bug! Thats what I keep telling my wife anyway. I try to bring home at least 3 every year. Yep...been doing it for 33 years now!

Supers are easy to tell without looking for struts. Just look at the front sheet metal. A Super Beetle front apron curves under and a standard is flat. As for the windshield, early supers had flat windshields just like standards. They changed to a curved windshield in '73 or '74.
Looks sweet, get it!
