I recently came across a 72 sb, running engine, but a decent size dent on the roof. I believe I can get the dent out, with bondo on my side, and I am looking to make it quick, without going overboard. I am 18, and will be working full time this summer for a project car. Granted, that isnt alot of money, for I am looking to spend around 1200.00 on the engine.

This is what I think I need so far for this to happen:
using the existing motor, a 1600, boring it out to a 1914cc - 400.00?
dual carbs- 300?
twin port head - 100?
anything else you could add?

also, any reason not to get this car?
Thanks alot
Tim

a 1914 doesnt cost 400. You will need machine work on the block and heads will need pistons and cylinders.Might as well drop in a good size cam.Dual carbs is good, what kind and size you goin with.Good to get big valve heads go get good speed out of this engine.got any pics of the bug?

Not yet, will trailer the bug home on saturday, and will take pics than. I called a shop in Atlanta, and they wanted 1200 to port and polish the engine. I guess I just need to call around and find the cheapest.
