The Tri-Cities WA., the same area that hosts The Columbia Cup Unlimited Hydroplane Races, is hosting a VW show May 23rd at Flat Top Park in West Richland. This is the first annual event.
Info at The Samba "coming events" or at

Anybody thinking about going? |

ya... thanks for reminding me about the Show n Glow by the old Hanford Nuclear reservation. Sounds like a nice excuse to go over the mountains. |

Vehicle-wise, the show saw about 28 show cars plus another 19 or so from the local club (midcolumbiavwclub.com) that were not judged. The local VW dealer had a display of 5 new cars also. There was valve cover racing, as well as a great display of Schwinn Krate Sting Ray bikes. I cant say how many people came through as attendance was free for walk-ins. I think the weather held some people back as it threatened to rain, however we did see some travel over from Surrey, BC, Spokane, the west side and surrounding areas.
Considering the size of the Tri Cities area, I believe the first show came off very well. It's got great potential for growth, and nice grassy park grounds for parking many more show cars in coming years.
Congratulations to the Mid-Columbia VW Club for pulling off a successful event. |

I really wanted to make it out there, but working graveyard on Sunday night put a damper on that. I didn't feel like driving 8 hours then going to work for another 8. Maybe next year i'll take the day off and head out that way.

Long distance trophy went to a couple from Surrey, BC. The VW Things came over from the West Side also. |
