Greg's car looks to be a '66. First the front moustache is the longer type and the doors are different than early type 3's. I compared his picture to my car and the black trim on the inside of his does not match the contour of the door. Anyone else notice this? Nice car anyways! I hope he goes stock with it!

It has 3 bolt hinges? My guess would be the nose trim is wrong, but we need interior pictures to confirm.

W I D E 5, 2 piece door panels and "Variant S" scream '65.

A VIN that starts with 365 tells me it's a '65 as well.

I'm sure the mustache has been changed maybe even the hood. My buddy mentioned a different "front trim" in the parts he has for it.

Not sure what looks different on the doors though. They look like any other 3 bolt doors I've seen.

What interior pics would you guys liketo see/
I'm hoping to get it unloaded today ad get the junk out of it ASAP.

Seats, carpet, sunroof if it works, and engine.

Here is a pic of a later door (post '65) just like on Greg's car.

Check out the round shape around the door panel.

Look at the shape around the top of the door panel and it is straight just like mine. This is why I am saying it may be a '66. The fact that it has W I D E F I V E..... anyone could have changed the pan or front end. Greg, is this car a two bolt or three bolt?

It would be easier than changing the pan or front end. Greg says the VIN starts with 365, that's enough to call it a '65 for me.

They are 3 bolt doors. But I would count that door (on mine) as any hard source cause if you loo closely it also had a door lock pull on the top of it.

The front fender and rear fender on that side of the car have damage. The door doesn't. My guess is they swapped out the door at some point.

That's a super rare item, just like on Notchboys '63 notch :P

Sunroof operates fine.
Could use some cleaning and lubrication, but I was able to crank it open and closed a few times with no problems.

Great eye Martin. I do agree with you in the respect that the doors are wrong. The early doors are stamped differently in the respect that they held a complex 4 piece door card-handel system. The later doors were stamped to hold the one piece card. You can tell by the stamping seen under the wrap around section on Gregs door. See how the wrap around piece is not sitting flush with the door? And how that the wrap around trim is screwed on. Why is that? I think its because the doors are 67 only notchback doors. They hace a D cup for the outside handels as well and not a oval like the 61-66 cars have. Take off one of those wrap around pieces Greg and lets see if there are slots on the upper part to accept the clips for the wrap around piece.

Early door handels+D cups+locks on top+3 bolt hinges=67 notchback

As jack stated my 63 has the same door. He is given the dubious honor to first see that flaw on my 63. It of coarse has had an accident at some point having the door, fender and rim relpaced.

notchboy Mon Oct 06, 2008 6:28 pm

To help clarify.

Early doors-61-65 although I would like to see some 64-65 doors to see for sure.

Same door as seen on Gregs.

mr. warehouse Mon Oct 06, 2008 6:38 pm

This car also sustain an accident at some point. Along with the door, both front and rear fenders were replaced. I can see body work and white paint under the blue.

What's the chances of finding those OG paint replacements?

notchboy Mon Oct 06, 2008 6:48 pm

If the car was originaly white then it was Pearl Weiss. It looks like they went for a Sea Blue- nicer color in my opinion. You can have both matched in todays products. Now finding the fender beading and nose trim beading in the same color is hard

Pedros car is Sea Blue

mr. warehouse Mon Oct 06, 2008 8:36 pm

No the car is originally Sea Blue. Just the fenders show signs of white paint.
Everything else is Blue. Some respray, but most is original.

Greg check the molding holes in your doors to see if they have been drilled out to size for the large moldings

I would bet they are 67' notchback doors that been fitted and updated for the molding... as 66 did not have the interior door lock pull, and 65 should have the strait edge at the top panel for the interior trim molding as covered above...

the doors with the odd " D " pocket under the handle should be classified as " replacement doors " usually found in odd countries...
