| I need to replace the hinge pins on my the front doors of my 64 T2. Does anyone in the Modesto Ca, area know of someone that can do this for me? Or, where can I find detailed information on how to do it myself? Thanks. |

Getting the old pins out is usually the problem, and sometimes takes an air chisel to pound them out. Soak them with Kroil, WD40, PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench, or your favorite rust killer/lubricant. Heat works good too, from a propane torch or smoke wrench. On mine I ground off the hinge pin heads flush with the top of the hinge so I could pound the pins down first. And I used a nice new flat 3/16" punch. You can't remove the pin going down, but my idea was to push it down 1/16" and then pound it up from the bottom. I spent about 10 minutes on each pin pounding it down, pounding it back up, pounding it down again, and they finally came out (up). Are the doors still on the bus or have you unscrewed the hinges from the body?

New pins: (or use mirrors for the top pins..)
The '58-'67 parts book lists # 211-831-421 as the bottom pin, and does not list a number for the top pin, but it also says 4 required for pin 211-831-421, so the same pin should fit the top if you don't have mirrors.
WW lists it as a door hinge pin, standard size @ $4.50/ea and currently in stock.
