I had the same problem with my '74 Super -- and was seeking an inexpensive way to improve the rear height. I opted for air adjustable shocks (about $80.00/pair) -- so far, it's been over 2 years and they work great! I can raise or lower the rear by adding or removing air.
There are more "correct" ways to raise the sagging end of a Beetle, but the method I described above is the least expensive I've found. Good Luck! |

air adjustable shocks?? i've never heard of these before.. where did you get them??? are there any drawbacks to using them??
i've been thinking about getting the adjusters that weld into the torsion bars, but these adjustable shocks sound much better |

| Can't you just raise it 1 or 2 splines in the rear? I lowered my car this way, but I don't know if it would work on a Super. Just buy taller shocks and raise it a spline. |

The air adjustable shocks should be available almost anywhere that sells auto parts - if not, check with JC Whitney or your mechanic.
They have an air nozzle identical to the one on your tires - that allows you to add/remove air with a normal air compressor.
Not sure how they would do on heavier cars, but for my Super, they've worked perfectly. |

| Never tried to max it out, but we were able to raise the rear of my Super between 1.75 and 2 inches |
