View original topic: Tire rubs on the strut spring, please help

On my 72 super that I bought a few months ago I was going to rotate the tires because they were wearing and after I did that the spring started rubbing a line in the drivers side front tire. after a little looking I found out the wheel that was on the drivers side front was a 4" wheel and all the other wheels are 4.5". The tires are the same brand and size but when I try to put any of the 4.5" rims with the tires on that spot the spring rubs. Anybody else ever have this problem? I plan on getting new tires and an alignment next week and don't want to have this same problem. Thanks

I have found that some different wheels can have slightly different offsets.

You may want to try switching with any other wheels you have handy or your spare or....

Stock tire size was 155X15 so anything larger would be oversize.

You also could have a bent spindle but try swapping wheels around firs.
