The backup lights on my 70 Ghia vert don't come on when I put it in reverse. The bulbs are fine. There's an in line fuse in the engine compartment that looks OK too (I assume that it tis the backup light fuse). So, I'm stuck with having to test the backup light switch. I don't know where it is, though.
Is it by the shifter or the transmission? Does the ignition or the engine have to be on for the lights to go on?
Any suggestions on how to go about this?
Thanks in advance. |

Well I fixed it.
For those of you who don't know where the switch is:
It's at the very front of the transmission on the passenger side. A real pain to get to (unplug/plug the wires).
The wiring goes as follows:
Ignition coil (+ terminal)->In line Fuse->Switch at the transmission->Back into the engine compartment and to both backup lights.
My problem was that there was no connection between the coil and the switch. The fuse and wire were gone. I rigged it. But, tomorrow I'll get an in-line fuse. |
