hello all esteemed ghia masters, if i may pick your collective brains please.
i am rather new to the ghia thing and would like to boost some of the performance features of the car, wanting more of a beefier daily driver than a racer. i am currently at a mostly stock AR 1300 dual port '74 engine (the car itself is a '71) with with the only apparent PO modifications a bosch 009, weber dual 34 ict carbs and an empi dual exhaust muffler. was thinking about some mild resurfacing/porting of the heads vs new heads (w/larger valves?), either 85.5 or 90.5 cylinders with appropriate case modif., and better shocks. what about the crank and flywheel, is stock ok here? brakes? transmission?
muchas thanks! |

Well... for a beefy dailey driver that could pull nicely, but still be reliable, I'd go with a 1776. Stock crank, 90.5 p&c's, mild cam (engle 110?) Stock flywheel drilled for 8 dowel and everything balanced. Get some p&p'ing done to the head, but don't go for much bigger valves, since a 1776 doesn't need to breathe that much better anyways. Maybe keep your dual solexes. Oh, and just use a stock trannie.
IF your car doesn't have front disc brakes (it should) get some and they'll work great. |
