HELP!!!!I am trying to change my headlight switch. It does not have the factory screw mounting to the dash. How do I get it out of the dash? It has a lock washer or something holding ot on, does this unscrew or slide off??Help please...Tony

switches did come from the factory without the screw under the dash. The face of the switch(aluminum(sp?) looking thing behind knob) unscrews from the main body of the switch. VW had a tool for this and I dont know a way besides that to get them off.

I've used a screwdrievr, which really buggers up the escutcheon that screws on. So then I made a tool out of a flat piece of metal.. actually a leaf spring... grind a slot for the switch stem, then taper the ends in the right angle. It not the same size as bays... I have a tool by from Gedore for the later size.

hm... headlight switch... thought those were all attached by screw under dash.. the 66-67 wiper or emergency switch had the otehr attachedment. but maybe you have a later or bug switch in there.
