Hi everyone,
I've searched the site and there is not much on this.
When I was in college (80's) I had a superbeetle and I remember that there was at least one cruise control system available in those catalogs. Here, on the samba, I found a link or two talking about the audiovox cruise control.
Does anyone have any experience with installing a cruise control in a Ghia (1.6l engine and manual transmission)?
Any hints as to how to do it, what brand to use, where to get one etc?
Thanks, |

Dude that would be so cool to have cruise control on a ghia. I will look into it too. If you find something let us know. Wo wohnst du? In Deutschland?

It seems that the audiovox CCS 100 is a universal control for less than $100.
So far, I've seen it installed in buses, Miatas, as well as motorcycles. I've not yet come across any really bad things about it.
Nein, ich wohne nicht in Deutschland, sondern in Kentucky; bin aber in Deuschland gebohren und habe deutsche Eltern. Und Du? |

Here's a website where the guy installed it in a bus. His was fuel injected and that might change everything.

Gives you an idea what's involved though. |

| There's a KG I see at the local shows every year that has cruise control. The owner says it was a dealer option. Show season is starting here, so I'll ask him about it when I see him. |

back in the 70's I briefly wanted crusie control for my old VW Thing. I looked around and as I recall I found a kit at Sears of all places. Never bought it because it was something like $120 and I thought that was far too much. Just a clue for anyone seeking one.
This would do the same job and be much more elegant:

If anyone has one of these for sale you would be amazed by how much I would pay you for it. |

That's pretty cool. Was it meant as cruise control, or was it a hand throttle for handicapped drivers? |
