View original topic: Horn wire comes out where?

Yes before I get the "Use the Search button" line I did and didn't come up with the answer I'm looking for. You know the wire that connects to the horn button. Does it travel through the center of the steering colum and out through the hole in the bottom of the steering box? Last item I need to wire to get my Bus inspected. :D

In that photo I think that is wrong. After it comes out of the hole at the bottom of the tube it should go through a "tunnel" on the bottom of the steering box so it doesn't go straight down to the road.

On my '65 the wire comes straight out of the hole in the seering box and straight to the horn. Its the original wire, there is little shrink wrap and only boots on the terminals for the horn. It doesn't mean that some gromets didn't rot off years ago, but mine doesn't have them. There is no tube or evidence of one.

the wire comes out of the steering box and is held from slipping by a little piece of metal.

Thanks for the help! I figured it did but I wanted to be sure.

WOW that guy did an amazing job on the under carriage of his doublecab...I'd like to see his face when he heads down a gravel road though...

The joke around our house is the dc will reside in a bubble filled with Argon when finished... finished, oh wait, will it ever be finished? I first have to find some more gas tank divider felts!

Hell all that work do you plan on driving it? Or is it going to a Museum?

DaveM Fri May 28, 2004 2:28 pm

drive it occasionally yes... but only on dry days... and only on the pavement. 8) I'd catch too much hell from friends if I never drove it.

Glad to know you get to experience all your hard work. I've always wanted to do one up like you have. I just can't tell myself that if I did I would still drive it. When I get back to the states I might find me a BD and give it the Royal Treatment.

I'll give you $20 to immediately drive it down a gravel road at 55 mph.
