| After working on my `67 Ghia convertible, I noticed the inner front fender fresh air duct is rusted out. It`s just the top part of the duct, I guess that`s why I never saw it untill I ran my hand across it. How much work will it take to remove and replace it? I have another Ghia for parts that has good ducts. I`ve got a felling I will need someone to do it for me, there`s alot of good shops in Austin, Tx. Just wondering if anyone else has done the same thing, and how difficult it is to do? |

It's gonna be very difficult. Basically, you'll have to remove the fender to access the top of the air duct to weld a new piece in. And if that's rusted out, you've most certainly got other issues if you care to look for them.
The "Body" page on my website has a 1960's body manual that shows what's involved in removing and replacing the fender, and what that ducting looks like when exposed.

I had some holes in mine, and decided to fiberglass them since it's not really a cosmetic item.
I got in there with a wirewheel, used epoxy resin and woven fiberglass.
OSPHO in a spray bottle is handy too for rust in hard to get to places. Follow with epoxy primer and voila.... :P |

| Yeah, that`s what I will end up doing too. The holes are`nt that bad, and the alternative would be very costly. The car was a victom of arson, some fool threw something lit on the passengers seat when the top was down, and pretty much gutted the interior and burned some of the exterior paint. I bought it at a insurance auction after the fact. It`s going back to it`s original Bermuda Blue body with a off white interior and a tan top. Hope to get it done soon. Thanks for the replies. |
