When I approach 30-35 up to about 45 my car is making a "wumpa wumpa wumpa wumpa" sound. Sounds like its something in the front suspension. It never makes the noise about 45... is this just tires out of balance or do I have something serious? I never noticed the sound before and I've been on these tires for at least 600 miles. Thanks a lot - Hunter

Is only one side window open and no pop-outs open when this noise is happening? If it is, the cure is opening a pop-out or two. If not, you should make sure your front bearings are still intact before too much damage has been done to the spindle.

Sounds like you got a Suburban VW?
Volkswagenwerk specifically designed 2 different models for each type, 1 for mom, 1 for dad.
The suburban was for mom; low speed, to tool around town, pick up groceries, get the kids, etc.
The highway was for dad; higher gear ratios, leaner carb, fold back seats, get home speed.
I think your suburban is operating appropriately, if you disable this safety device, do so at your own peril. |

sounds like your muffer bearings need replacing. wcm and kgp&r list them in their catalogs. replace them asap or serious problems may result.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't replied to any of your questions. I've in the bahama's for the last few days - woohoo. Anyway, I'm not familiar about the vwwerks thing I bought my ghia locally and it was in "original" condition at that point. It's a 64 and I replaced king and link pins less than 3 months ago. I generally have both windows down so I don't think its that. Could somebody go into a little more detail about these bearrings and how much time I might have left, cost, etc. Thanks!! Hunter

I searched for that part on kgp&r... couldn't find it. I've never heard of a muffer bearing, did you by chance mean the buffer in the strut setup? Did I mention that it may be possible that I'm running on factory shocks, etc? heh heh
