Yes.

There's no such thing as "factory" A/C. They were all dealer installed options so the kits were pretty universal.

Although I think you might be happier keeping the underdash unit and buying a modern system to drive it. The advances in technology are impressive and a modern compressor only pulls about 1/2 hp compared to over 10 for the old York unit.

Gilmore Enterprises makes one that that is a do it yourself project and uses your underdash unit. It puts out 13,000+ btu's and has gotten very good reviews.

Try http://www.oldairproducts.com

They are one of several outfits who supply A/C units to fit in the cramped interior of Hot Rods. I think one would complement a Ghia very well.

Sorry for my ignorance, but in Canada it never gets that hot.
Isn't it redundant to have air conditioning in a Cabriolet? Wouldn't you just put the top down?

Funny, a fellow from Canada who has given me advice on stuffing a V8 into my S10 Blazer said he uses his A/C in his every summer. I think he's closer to the eastern part of Canada and takes trips west every year.

I had A/C in my Dodge Shadow convertible. Sometimes it gets TOO hot for the top to be down -- if you can believe that.

Music to my ears.
I don't think that could work out any better, I'll salvage the cosmetic part and replace what's operational.
Even the blind squirrel finds an acorn occasionally.

Great posts, Thanks. A quick response, when it rains and topless is not an option, the a/c in the vert can help your date from getting the icky stickys.
