Hi guys – I have a 53’ split that’s currently running 14’ rostyle rims, which are totally wrong for the car. I found some rims, which I’ve been told they are the original type. They are 16’ pressed steel beetle rims with a little diamond mark on each of them by the hole for the air valve – are these right?
What sort of tires would look the part in your opinions?
I’m thinking of colouring the pressed rims the same colour of the car then wrapping them in white walls and lowering the car a few inches? Thoughts? |

late '52 and '53 splits had 15" wheels... which are ALOT cheaper than the 16's.
I always like 2 tone paint on 'smoothies'... if you're running whitewalls, I would put the lighter color on the inside hub.
good luck. |
