I guy who seemed to know a lot about Ghias told me the following. True or False?

- 67 Ghias came with a rear-view mirror with a black plastic backing (my 67 has a shiny metal backing, and one of the 67 pamphlets I have shows a 68 Ghia with a metal-backed mirror). Was 67 a transition year, or do I have the wrong mirror?

- Only convertibles had the small door-mounted mirror on the passenger side. Coupes only had it on the driver's side (I thought it was optional on either coupes or verts).

The plastic-backed rear view mirror (p/n 151 947 131B) was used on 1968 and up production models. Also in 1968, the passenger side mirror was first offered as an option (M261), and installation was available on both Coupes and Convertibles.

Good news on the interior mirror...means my metal-backed one is OK for a 67. On the door mirrors, 66-67 had those weird little mirrors; about 2/3 the size of the later ones. The driver's side are rare, and the passenger's side are impossible.

Say, GhiaNut, is that NEW "Preston" in CT where you live? Lake Waramaug? I know it well! There's a yellow '70/'71 Ghia conv. on the hill behind the pizza place at start of the lake...
