Anybody know of a website with good stock radio information? Mine works, but I'm tempted to pick up a spare the next time I see a deal. I want to know which of the Blaupunkt models are "age-approprite" for a 67.

This is the only one I know of: http://www.oldautoradio.com

I did a fair amount of research into this at one time, as I was determined to have a perfect OEM radio. The "cha-ching" factor eventually killed that idea. Original radios in good condition, like those at www.oldautoradio.com are just too pricey for me, so I settled for a modern Blaupunkt CD player (at least it's German). The best "what came in what" list I found is at http://www.dolphinsci.com/vwradios.html

Thanks Jason. I haven't found anybody giving them away yet, but you never know what you'll run across. Funny, though...that dolphinsci page doesn't show anything about Blaupunkts...only Sapphires.

It's my understanding that Blaupunkt was never an official factory or dealer option at least as far VW of America goes.

Which is not to say dealers didn't sell them, just not thru VWoA.

Maybe in Europe, but here I believe the radios were always Motorola or Bendix (the Saphires). They were a bit cheaper radios, but why ask Mom and Pop to pay for Shortwave in the USA?

If you're looking for cool, don't overlook the Philips sets. They made some pretty handsome radios and they seem to be cheaper to buy than the Blaupunkts.

I guess that explains the relative rarity of the Blaupunkts and the hefty price tags. What model of a Phillips would go on a 67?
