so my wiring has been hacked the previous owner and i am having problems with all of my lighting and accessories and dash lights, i wanna run a new harness but i dont need the main one to the engine. Is there anywhere to find just an accessory harness, i have looked but no luck, or if i but the whole harness would anyone be interested in the engne harness? Also how long of a job would it be to rewire a whole car, this will be my only ride soon so hopefully a days work. I have printed all of the microfische for my wiring with color codes. thanks
ps, i was told there is a wire that runs to the speedo that is connected to my charging system, any ideas what wire this is?

good god man. good luck. I would just hand this one over to a shop to do it. seems like a big headache. best wishes.

I don't believe that you can get just the front wiring section, but I've never looked myself. About 10 years ago I re-wired a 55 Dodge over a three day weekend from scratch with six rolls of wire and a soldering iron. Now, I figure I could rewire my Ghia with a repro harness in about six hours, but I also know my way around VW wiring. I'd allow a full weekend for you to do it if you've never done anything like it before.

The wire you're thinking of is the thin blue wire that runs from terminal 61 on your voltage regulator to the charge indicator light in the speedometer. It's a 1.2 watt bulb (K2 on the diagram), and is an integral part of your charging system. If the bulb burns out or the wire is disconnected, your battery will not be charged.
