I am getting ready to paint my bus in a few feeks but i have some questions on the process of how to two tone the bus. the but is goin to be white on top and light blue on the bottom.

Should i paint the whole bus white from top to bottom then tape off the top and paint the blue?? Or should i paint it blue and then paint the top white?? Or do i just paint half of it white them tape it off sand off the over spray and paint the blue??

I am thinking the paint the bus white first then painting the bottom blue would be the easiest, right ??

Please give me some suggestion on how i should do this.

Good question! I'm wanting to put a rally stripe on a baja bug and have a similar question. Somebody with experience please answer :?:

for all two tones....

LIGHT color first..

paint what you need light...

light sand to avoid grainy base coat...

tape, spray, unmask.. clear...

any mor questions?

next day then sand tape paint and imidaite clear

When I do a 2 tone enamal - over primer on a split window bus I do the bottom !/2 first regardless of color. For the top I get a lot better tape job running the masking tape on the FLAT edge of the bus with a better line down the sides and on the V in front. Instead of the tape running along the raised portion .... just a driveway painters findings.

I painted the top first with a color matched sealing primer, then topcoat. Next day sanded off overspray below the beltline, then color matched sealer then topcoat. Don't use regular masking tape to break the line...paint can seep under the paper tape. There's a special vinyl masking tape to use for this.
Also I didn't paint the entire Bus white because the paint is so expensive.

the vinyl tape you are speaking of is called fine line tape.
